Among the recent Shaker business openings is Premier Smiles Orthodontics (katesortho.com) at 16909 Chagrin Boulevard in
Shaker Towne Centre. This is Dr. Dale Kates’ third location.
StrollerMama (strollermama.com), a premium baby stroller and accessories store formerly located in Woodmere, relocated to
20134 Van Aken Boulevard in Shaker Plaza.
At Van Aken Center, Smiles by Dr. Blackmon opened an office for a mobile dentistry business that provides service to
preschools and daycares. For more information, contact Dr. Blackmon at smilesbydrblackmon@gmail.com.
Just around the corner, Shaker diners can enjoy American-Soul fusion food at Swerve Grille, located at 20126 Chagrin in the
space formerly occupied by Opus. Tuesdays at Swerve is Community Night where residents can meet and mingle with neighbors.
Appetizers will be half off during Happy Hour.
Home-based business Two Crows for Joy (twocrowsforjoy.com) opened a bricks and mortar store-within-a-store at Eclectic
Eccentric at 13005 Larchmere Boulevard. These cute and comfortable organic baby and children’s clothes make a one-of-a-kind gift
for friends and family near and far. Spread the joy!
On the entrepreneurial front, the winner of the $20,000 first place prize at the 2013 COSE Business Pitch competition was
Shaker resident Dan Mansoor for GiveNext, an online dashboard that helps donors track their contributions and streamlines the
way charities connect with those donors. Mansoor also received support from the Shaker LaunchHouse Accelerator Program. The
prize money will be used to finish the software and launch the website. SL

It is easier than ever to keep your dollars local and Shop Shaker for your
retail and service needs. Clothes and strollers for the youngest among
us, a new orthodontist for the teen set, and another restaurant option will
entice residents to shop and dine locally.

Public Works normally will not pick up

up storm debris/brush during the next
several weeks in between leaf collection,

rapid stop have any accommodations for
cyclists (e.g., bike gutters to help cyclists
take their bikes up the stairs into and
out of the station and bike lockers for
bimodal commuters to store their bikes)?

to the plan. A bike gutter, making it easier
to roll a bike up or down the stairs, has also
