Laurel School offers a wide
range of opportunities for girls
and boys age 2 through grade 12.
Camps are held in Shaker Heights and
on Laurel’s 150-acre Butler campus
in Russell Township and run June
8-July 31. Sign up for day camp or
select from a specialty camp, including
art, theatre, sports, adventure,
academic, and STEM. In Butler’s vast
outdoor classroom, campers have the
opportunity to immerse themselves
in the natural world and challenge
themselves on an extensive 15-element
Project Adventure Ropes Course. Get

Master Marr’s Taekwon-do
Summer Camp is a great way for
beginners to kick-start their
training and for experienced martial
artists to hone their skills. Choose
from three sessions for ages 5-14:
June 15-19, July 13-17, and
August 10-14, 9 am to 3 pm (half-day
option is available for younger kids).
Every day includes a Taekwon-do
class, age-appropriate conditioning,
challenging games, as well as free play
inside and out. Each week concludes
with a demonstration for family and

Nature Center at Shaker Lakes
offers weekly camps with an
outdoor adventure or nature theme.
Half- and full-day camps are available
for children ages 3 1/2-14. Week-long
adventure camps are available for
ages 11-14, where campers explore
the variety of outdoor recreation and
adventure activities that Northeast
Ohio has to offer. Camps run June

Shaker Heights City School
District offers Summer
Exploration, Learning and Fun
(SELF), which provides an array of
summer program options for students
grades K-12 in the District. Students
can enroll in programs that focus on
the arts, STEM, global languages,
and skill, career, and personal
development. All programs offer
a robust curriculum that aligns to
literacy and math learning standards.
The program runs in June and July.

Shaker Heights Recreation
Department offers a variety of
camps for children grades K-8.
Camps are available for half days and full
days with optional before- and after-care
every week. Camps are held at a variety
of locations from Woodbury to Shaker
Middle School and Mercer Elementary
School. Whether your child is interested in
sports, looking for an adventure, or wants
to try something new, Shaker Recreation
has something to meet his or her needs.
Camp registration began January 2.
Space is limited for some camps,
so please register early. The complete
camp listing is included in the winter
program catalog, which was mailed to your
home. Camps begin the week of June 8.

The Shaker Historical Society offers
students in grades 5-9 the opportunity
to roll up their sleeves and take part in
an archeological dig, while learning about
the history of the North Union Shakers
and the development of Shaker Heights.

Shaker Rocks offers one-week indoor
rock climbing camps for children
grades 1-8. Kids who have energy to
burn will have fun-filled days packed with
top rope climbing, bouldering, slacklining,
team-building games, and much more.
New climbers will learn the fundamental
skills of climbing while experienced
climbers can take their abilities to the
next level on more challenging terrain.
Camps are half-day, full-day, or extended

offers gymnastics camps for

engineering, and design camps; there
is something for all ages and interests.
