2013 Preservation Awards:
Calls for 2014 Nominations
In 1998 the Shaker Heights Landmark Commission established its Preservation
Awards program to recognize efforts by property owners who have preserved and
improved their home or property in a manner that reflects the historic nature of
our City. The Landmark Commission is pleased to announce the following
award winners for 2013:
HONOR AWARD HONOR AWARD
Retention of Original Materials
Ratner Residence, South Park Boulevard
The project involved a comprehensive renovation of the exterior
and interior of the house over two phases and several years, and included
reconstruction/replacement of all materials, finishes, windows, and chimneys.
MERIT AWARD MERIT AWARD

Retention of Original Materials
Lindow Residence, Winslow Road
This award was given for the restoration
of four original, leaded glass
windows on the front of a Winslow
Road Landmark District house.
Excellence in Stewardship
Martin Residence, Parkland Drive
The four-year project entailed cleaning, repairing and restoring the original woodwork,
stone, plaster, and leaded glass windows throughout the home’s interior and exterior.
Distinguished Landscape
Czapski Residence, Lynton Road
This award was given for the
creation of beautiful exterior spaces
and the replacement of the asphalt
driveway with antique granite
cobblestones salvaged from a
downtown Cleveland street.
