Need Tools?
Check Out the Home
Repair Resource Center
Calling all DIYers! No need to buy a special
tool for your latest renovation project.
Instead, join the Tool Library at the Home
Repair Resource Center (HRRC) and
borrow what you need from this collection
of more than one thousand tools.
The City has partnered with HRRC, a
not-for-profit based in Cleveland Heights,
so that Shaker residents can join the Tool
Library for an annual fee of $25. Head
over hrrc-ch.org to fill out an application
or to browse the library.
Tools can be reserved online and
picked up at HRRC (2520 Noble Road)
Monday to Wednesday, 1 to 7 pm. The loan
period is seven days, but borrowers can
renew online or by phone. If you’re not
quite sure how to use a tool, a staff member
will be happy to show you and also provide
you with a “how-to” handout.
Tools run the gamut from plumbing
and electrical to construction and masonry.
In addition to the Tool Library, HHRC
offers a regular schedule of classes designed
to help participants learn to repair common
problems in older homes, like window
sashes, plaster, tuckpointing, painting,
and lots more. Classes are regularly offered
in Shaker. Subscribe to the City’s ENews
(bit.ly/sh-enews) or follow us on Facebook
(@shakeronline) for updates on classes held
in Shaker Heights. SL
