The Library is fortunate to have two
Shaker residents among the circulation
staff who help to keep customer
encounters positive and helpful. These
two staff members live and work in the
community they love and it shows in their
For the past 15 years, Linda Lissauer
has been a helpful presence behind the
Circulation Desk, where she values the
community connections she has made.
She was born
of Illinois and
from New York
Medical College. In fact, the former head
nurse in the intensive care unit at the
University of Chicago’s Billings Hospital
knows a great deal about circulation!
Linda and her husband, Jack, a
gastroenterologist, moved to the Fernway
neighborhood where they raised four
daughters who graduated from Shaker and
are now married with children of their own.
Linda has been a dedicated community
volunteer sharing her time and talents with
The Junior Committee of the Cleveland
Orchestra, The Nature Center at Shaker
Lakes, and the League of Women Voters.
An art aficionado, Linda and her
husband founded the Jack and Linda
Lissauer Art Gallery at the Shaker Historical
Society and Museum, an intimate gallery
designed to encourage new and emerging
artists, to promote an appreciation of art,
and support to local artists.
Reads: Historical mysteries, cookbooks,
architecture, and interior design.
