I came to the Cleveland area for a position as a law
professor at the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in
2006, and I still work there.
I picked Shaker Heights for my home because the
dean who recruited me, Geoff Mearns, was a longtime Shaker
Heights resident (his own mother, Patricia Mearns, had served as
mayor of Shaker Heights). Geoff told me that Shaker Heights was a
great community. After doing a bit of homework regarding different
Cleveland-area neighborhoods, we decided that Shaker was the best fit.
My experience has been extremely positive. I am originally from
Serbia, and my husband is from France. Shaker Heights is a diverse and
cosmopolitan community, which has been a great fit for us. We have
three children who attend Shaker schools. Our son is in 10th grade and
our twin daughters are in seventh grade. Shaker schools are wonderful
and offer so much to their students. As an international family, Shaker
Schools’ IB programme is particularly attractive to us.
