Living in Shaker:
n Neighbor #1: Yesterday
around 1 pm I was with my son’s Irish
Terrier under a tree, patiently waiting
for the torrential downpour to abate on
Lomond near Lynnfield and Townley.
A young lady walked six houses in the
downpour to where we were standing
to invite us back to wait on their porch
instead of getting soaked on the street.
Though I had decided to move on and
declined her offer with gratitude, the
memory of her kindness lingers on in
my soul with immense significance,
symbolizing the power of trust and
empathy toward a stranger. If you are
the person who approached me, please
message me so I may thank you more
profusely than I could muster in the
midst of the downpour. At any rate,
I wanted to share this in celebration
of the human ties that connect us
deeply and move us to magnanimous
acts even in an era of alienation.
Neighbor #2: Nice to read that
things are still the same in my old
neighborhood! Neighbor #3: Well
said…A little kindness is all we need…
practice random acts of kindness daily.

Living in Shaker Heights:
n Neighbor #1: I recently
moved to Shaker from Cleveland
Heights (grew up in Beachwood).
I absolutely adore this community and
I’ve found everyone I meet to be kind,
helpful and generous with their time.
I work at one of the shops at The Van
Aken District and love it. Why did I
wait so long to move here? I especially
love the lending libraries around my
neighborhood (Lomond area). As an
English teacher, I was incredibly happy
to learn of these libraries. They speak
towards the type of community that
cares for its neighbors. Thank you,
Shaker Heights!! I work at Room Service
so please stop in and say hello. I’m
there on Saturdays. I love making new
friends! Neighbor #2: Welcome!
Our family lives right on Lomond.
You should join the Lomond Association
Facebook page! Neighbor #3: Welcome
to this amazing community! We are
happy to have you here! Neighbor #4:
Welcome! I also find the people warm
and welcoming. I find Shaker to be a
unique neighborhood and it’s filled with
beautiful, caring people. Neighbor #5:
I love where I live. It has much to do
with the community and the inclusive
spirit of Shaker.
