Black History Month Celebrations
Meet Oluremi at the Main Library when
she weaves her storytelling magic from 7-8
pm Thursday, February 8. Sharing her own
poetry as well as that of other developing-
world poets, Oluremi uses African cultural
traditions to inform, enhance, and
invigorate the program.
The poet and storyteller is an early
childhood specialist and consultant who
has worked with children, families, and
service providers for over 30 years.
She is a member of the National
Association of Black Storytellers and
is in her fourth year of service as
president of the Cleveland Association of
At 2 pm Sunday, February 11
at Main Library, Moreland
neighborhood’s theater group,
Phoenix Rising, presents Legends: An
African American Read-In, a readers’
theater of excerpts from their favorite
black writers. The performance will take
place in the Reading Room of the Main
Library and is appropriate for all ages.
Serving Our Community of Artists
The Library, the City, and the Photo Club
at the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes
collaborated on a juried photography
exhibit showcasing the magnificent trees
in Shaker Heights. Photographers of all
skill levels were invited to submit photos.
The result of this community collaboration
is Rings of Life: The Trees of Shaker
Heights A Photographic Essay which
will be on display on the Main Library Art
Wall from February 1 through March 15.
