Library and Tree Advisory Board
present an Earth Day
Poster & PoeTREE Contest
for Arbor Day 2015
On April 10 we hope we’ll see
Many Arbor Day posters and poetree
Branch out! Use your creativity,
We await your entry at Shaker Library.
Arbor Day celebrates the role of trees in our
lives and promotes tree planting and care.
Children in grades 3 to 12 are encouraged to
use their imaginations to create a poster or
write a poem depicting the value of trees.
Poems may be typed or handwritten
clearly on letter-sized paper. Poster entries
should be completed on 11 by 17-inch poster
paper or card stock. Prizes include award
certificates and “native species” trees donated
by Glenn Gali of Gali’s Florist.
Entry forms will be available at both
libraries and Gali’s Florist beginning March
24. Entries must be delivered to the Main
Library Children’s Desk by 5:30 pm Friday,
April 10. The awards presentation will be held
at 4 pm, Friday, April 24 at the Main Library.

Brief Bio: Susan has been a resident of Shaker Heights for 20 years. Her five
children attended the Shaker Schools, where she volunteered with school
activities, including school carnivals, plays, and pizza Fridays. Susan also worked
as a substitute teacher in the Shaker Schools. She has worked at Shaker Library
for the past six years. She began as a Children’s Associate while studying for her
Master of Library Science degree from Clarion University in 2010, and then
served as a Children’s librarian since 2012. She is a member of the American
Library Association and the Ohio Library Association. In her new position as
Community Engagement Librarian, Susan looks forward to providing library
services to the community both inside and outside the library.
