Kammer to the Marilyn Kammer Memorial
Fund to honor Allie Korman Shelton, Adam
Blankenheimer, and Kat Webster, and in
memory of Bennett Adler, Helen Kartsonis,
Mary Louise DeLeon, Anita Maron, Gail
Mendelsohn, and Eunice Zisser. Ann Levin
made an unrestricted contribution to the
Bertram Woods Branch Fund.
Local history donations included
three undated (circa 1930s) Onaway class
photographs from an anonymous donor
and 47 School District staff directories from
1960 to 2005 from Kathy Fredrick, former
director of Library and Technology Services
for the Shaker City School District.
Judith Karberg donated Your Garden
magazine, March 1930, and Storyettes,
Volume II: Reminiscences of Frederick
Coolidge Crawford, 38 glass slides from
the circulating collection of the Cleveland
Museum of Art, seven illustrated advertising
plates of homes designed by Chester
A. Thompson, one copy of Van Sweringen
Home Building Standards and one copy of
Planning and Financing Your Home packaged
in a Van Sweringen company envelope,
one suede-bound copy of Beautiful Homes
of Cleveland, published by the Cleveland
Topics Company, 1917, and one black
leather-bound photo album of homes built
in Shaker Heights.
Author Laura Peskin donated a copy of
Deep Cover Cleveland: 99 Little Known Things
about Northeast Ohio. Neil Ruddock donated
Gumption and Gusto: The Life of Betty Kidder
Ruddock (2014).
CLOSINGS
Both libraries will be closed Monday,
October 13 for staff training. The libraries
will close at 5:30 pm Wednesday, November
27 and remain closed due to funding cuts
until 9 am Monday, December 1 for the
Thanksgiving holiday and for three unpaid
furlough days. The libraries will be closed
December 24 and 25 for the Christmas
holiday and January 1 for New Year’s Day.
